The Journey of Wellness: Introduction
Does one really know wellness until it's gone? Too cliché? Kind of, but it's sometimes the truth. So once you've experienced the dis-ease or the un-wellness what do you do to get it back? Or never lose it to begin with?
Those are a couple of the questions I want to touch on in this blog series. Everywhere I turn I see and hear things on illness. Commericals, TV shows, advertisements. When did this happen? And why are we so focused on the illness and not the wellness? What you think about manifests, people! Time to flip the script and start manifesting what you want and what will make you happy.
I completely understand that there are many people with serious illnesses and that Western medicine is making huge strides in the fight against Cancer and HIV/AIDS, and many, many, many other illnesses but what if we could live a life of wellness and health and movement that could extend our well-being and maybe eradicate illness until we're way older or (gasp) altogether?
I have experienced anxiety firsthand for a while and about 6 months ago started getting vestibular migraines. Over the last 6 months I have been living in a Post Traumatic Vestibular Migraine (PTVM?) world with so much anxiety that it was going to happen again at a time when I would be by myself and unable to get help. To give you a clearer picture (short version) of what my Vestibular Migraine feels like it is a sudden sensation of spinning, a vertigo of sorts, where I could not walk straight, could barely open my eyes because I, or the room, would be spinning, and because of the spinning I would vomit. Not fun. (more on this in future posts).
In a way, I am starting this blog as a reminder to myself how important it is to be mindful of your mental and physical well-being and I am hoping to learn from others about what they do to keep themselves balanced. Balance...is there such a thing? I used to say there wasn't but I have decided my word for 2018 is going to be Balance. It has so many meanings for me right now. Balance because of the constant dizziness I have felt for so long. Balance of how much food, rest, exercise I need to feel, and perform, at my best. Balance of body, mind and spirit.
I am fascinated by Reiki (I'm currently a Level 2 Reiki practitioner - woot woot!), Acupuncture, Astrology, Crystals, Meditation, Energy, Nutrition and how it can help heal, Skincare, and so much more. So follow along and join in the discussion. I'm excited to see where this leads us.
